HOLY MASS - A SACRIFICE OR CELEBRATION

The Catholic Mass

THE MASS AND YOU

On the Cross, Jesus offered Himself alone. In Holy Mass, you also make an offering. You offer to God, in the first place, Jesus Himself; and you must offer yourself to God with Him, in a very practical way, offering your daily work, your troubles during the week, your labor, your suffering, your trials, your grief's and your joys...in a word, your whole life.

But the Mass is not merely a half-hour devoted each Sunday in sacrificing to the Father the death of His Son, and to offering yourself, with His Son, to God the Father.

The Mass must come into your life, just as your life must go into your Mass. That half-hour must exert its influence not only over your entire Sunday, but also over your entire week.

Assisting at Mass on Sunday should influence and effect a change in your life for the entire week.

Your entire week should be, so to speak, "centered" upon the Mass. Holy Mass should be like the sun, illuminating all your actions during that entire week. It should be the culmination, the climax, the biggest and most beautiful event of the week.

Your Sunday Mass should increase your value in your own eyes, obligate you, lay duties upon you, keep you from evil.

It should uplift you, elevate your life and your humanity. It should help you to become a more devout Catholic and worthier apostle.
