OLD TESTAMENT BLESSINGS  

Never pay back one wrong with another, or an angry word with another one; instead, pay back with a blessing. That is what you are called to do, so that you inherit a blessing yourself. (1 Peter 3:9)

Mizpah Blessing

"The LORD watch between you and me, when we are absent one from the other." Genesis 31:49  

Aaron's Blessing

Also called the "Seraphic Blessing" because it became associated with Francis of Assisi ("the Seraphic Saint") who used a form of it to bless a Brother Leo on Mt. Alverno in 1224.

The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying...Thus you shall bless the Israelites: You shall say to them,

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them." Numbers 6:22-27  

Moses' Final Blessing of the People

"Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock, both the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out." Deuteronomy 28:3-6

Solomon's Blessing

"May the Lord our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors; may he not leave us or abandon us, but incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, his statues, and his ordinances, which he commanded our ancestors." Kings *:57-58   (top)
