Prayers for all Occasions, Needs, and Intentions PRAYERS - THE LITURGY OF THE HOURS The Church's full cycle of daily Prayer The Prayers to Honor the Blessed Virgin Mary may be prayed on Saturdays or any of the feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary. MARY'S MORNING PRAYER
BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Morning Prayer Introduction God, come to my assistance. Lord, make haste to help me. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Alleluia. Psalmody Blessed are you, O Mary, for the world’s salvation came forth from you; now in glory, you rejoice for ever with the Lord. Intercede for us with your Son. Alleluia. O
God, you are my God, for you I long; for you my soul is thirsting. My body
pines for you like
a dry, weary land without water. So I gaze on you in the sanctuary to see
your strength and your glory. For
your love is better than life, my lips will speak your praise. So I will
bless you all my life, in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul shall
be filled as with a banquet, my mouth shall praise you with joy. On my bed I remember you. On you I muse through the night for you have been my help; in the shadow of your wings I rejoice. My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast. Sing
of Mary, pure and lowly, Virgin
mother undefiled, Sing
of God’s own son most holy, Who
became her little child. Fairest
child of fairest mother, God
the Lord who came to earth, Word
made flesh, our very brother, Takes
our nature by his birth. Sing
of Jesus, son of Mary, In
the home at Nazareth. Toil
and labor cannot weary Love
enduring unto death. Constant
was the love he gave her, Though
he went forth from her side, Forth
to preach, and heal, and suffer, Till
on Calvary he died. Joyful
Mother, full of gladness, In
your arms, your Lord was borne. Mournful
Mother, full of sadness, All
your heart with pain was torn. Glorious Mother, now rewarded, With a
crown at Jesus’ hand, Age to age
your name recorded Shall be
blest in every land. Glory
be to God the Father; Glory
be to God the Son; Glory
be to God the Spirit; Glory
to the Three in One. From
the heart of blessed Mary, From
all saints the song ascends; And
the Church the strain reechoes Unto earth’s remotest ends. You are the glory of Jerusalem, the joy of Israel; you are the fairest honor of our race. Alleluia. firmament of heaven. Praiseworthy and glorious and exalted above all forever. O Virgin Mary, how great your cause for joy; God found you worthy to bear Christ our Savior. Alleluia. Sing
a new song to the Lord, his praise in the assembly of the faithful. Let
Israel rejoice in its maker, let Zion’s sons exult in their king. Let
them praise his name with dancing and make music with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people. He crowns the poor with salvation. Let the faithful rejoice in their glory, shout for joy and take their rest. Let the praise of God be on their lips and a two-edged sword in their hand, to deal out vengeance to the nations and punishment on all the peoples; to bind their kings in chains and their nobles in fetters of iron; to carry out the sentence pre-ordained; this honor is for all his faithful. Let Israel rejoice in you, Lord, and acknowledge you as creator and redeemer. We put our trust in your faithfulness and proclaim the wonderful truths of salvation. May your loving kindness embrace us now and forever. I rejoice heartily in the Lord, in my God is the
joy of my soul; For he has clothed me with a robe of salvation, and
wrapped me in a mantle of justice, like a bride bedecked with her jewels. The
Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning. alleluia, alleluia. The
Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning. alleluia, alleluia. He
has taken her to live with him, his loved one from the beginning.
alleluia, alleluia. Glory
to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the
beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. The Lord has chosen her, his loved one from the beginning. alleluia, alleluia. Eve shut all her children out of Paradise; the Virgin Mary opened wide its gates. Alleluia. Zechariah's Canticle Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he has come to his people and set them free. He has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the house of his servant David. Through his holy prophets he promised of old that he would save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us. He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant. This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham: to set us free from the hands of our enemies, free to worship him without fear, holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life. You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to prepare his way, to give his people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins. In the tender compassion of our God the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen. Let us glorify our Savior, who chose the Virgin Mary for his mother. Let us ask him: May your mother intercede for us, Lord. Savior of the world, by your redeeming might you preserved your mother beforehand from all stain of sin, keep watch over us, lest we sin. You are our redeemer, who made the immaculate Virgin Mary your purest home and the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit, make us temples of your Spirit forever. Eternal
Word, you taught your mother to choose the better part, grant that in
imitating her we might seek the food that brings life everlasting. King of kings, you lifted up your mother, body and soul, into heaven; help us to fix our thoughts on things above. Lord of heaven and earth, you crowned Mary and set her at your right hand as queen, make us worthy to share this glory. The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. Final Prayer Lord God, give to your people the joy
of continual health in mind and body. With the prayers of the Virgin Mary
to help us, guide us through the sorrows of this life to eternal happiness
in the life to come. We
ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with
you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. Trinitarian Ending In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Conclusion
